An expatriate doctor from Kabirhat Upazila of Noakhali has died of a heart attack at Boston Airport in the US state of Massachusetts while on his way back to Bangladesh.
The deceased doctor is named Omar Faruk Saber (56). He is the son of Nur Ahmed Mia of Batiya Mia house in Ward No. 2 of Batiya Union of the upazila.
He died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, early Wednesday morning.
The doctor's friend, Noakhali district BNP member Golam Momit Faisal confirmed the matter.
He said Omar Faruk passed his medical degree from Dhaka Medical College in 1995. He was a meritorious student of the 45th batch of Dhaka Medical College. Then in 1998, he migrated to America. There, he used to see patients in several hospitals in Boston, America. On December 10, he arrived at the Boston airport in America to return home. There, he suffered a sudden heart attack. Since then, he has been in a coma for the past 15 days. He died on Wednesday at around 5 am local time in that country.
The news of his death has cast a shadow of mourning over the area. Relatives of the deceased have sought the assistance of the interim government to bring his body back to the country.
