In any upcoming election, Toronto's Bangladeshi community has expressed unconditional support for Dolly Begum, a Bangladeshi-origin Member of the Provincial Parliament (MPP) in Canada.
Speakers expressed this view at a discussion with representatives of the Bangladeshi community at the BD Fusion restaurant on Danforth Road on Friday (January 10) evening.
Dolly Begum organized this discussion with the community in light of Justin Trudeau's announcement of his resignation as Prime Minister and the possibility of a snap election in the province of Ontario.
At the meeting, Dolly Begum expressed her intention to run again in the next election and sought the overall cooperation of the Bangladeshi community.
Incidentally: Dolly Begum has won two consecutive terms in the Ontario Provincial Parliament and is preparing to run for a third term. She serves as the Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Ontario Provincial Parliament.
At the meeting, community leaders highlighted Dolly Begum's activities and said that Dolly Begum has made Bangladesh shine in mainstream politics in Canada. The speakers mentioned that the community will stand by Dolly Begum in the upcoming elections.
Faizul Karim, an official from Dolly Begum's constituency office, conducted the meeting.
