The names of 4 candidates for the post of President and 5 candidates for the post of General Secretary were announced in the Council. Later, when 3 presidential candidates withdrew their candidature in favor of Farooq Khan, Farooq Khan was elected as the president. Similarly, out of 5 general secretary candidates, 4 candidates supported Aminnul Islam Jewel and he was elected as general secretary. As soon as the names of the new president and general secretary were announced, the expatriates of Gazipur district greeted the new leadership with applause.
