Malaysian MP praises expatriate Bangladeshis

Local public representative Datu Haji Mohammad Fuad praised the Bangladeshi expatriates in the Malaysian state of Penang. Speaking as the chief guest at an Eid reunion organized by the Bangladesh People's Welfare Association North Zone on Wednesday, he said that Bangladeshis have been living in the state of Penang for three generations. He commented that despite being immigrants, Bangladeshis have a role in the economic development here.  

The historical state of Penang, the cradle of the Malacca Straits, hosted an Eid reunion organized by the expatriate Bangladeshi businessmen scattered throughout the state. The event was chaired by the president of the Bangladesh People's Welfare Association Penang, Haji Kausar, and moderated by the general secretary, Abdul Naqib. The event was addressed by the organization's advisor, Iqbal Hossain.  

Expatriates started arriving in droves from the afternoon to attend the grand event at the five-star hotel The Light in Penang. Many expatriate Bangladeshis with their Malaysian wives and children were seen attending the event. The organizers of the event believe that such an event will increase brotherhood, friendship and harmony between the people of the two countries.

The locals also praised the Bangladeshis at the event. They said that Bangladeshis have contributed to the development of this state for generations. The speakers also commented that the Bangladeshis, who are calm in nature, get along well with the locals. 

Children of different ages recited poems and extended Eid greetings at the event. Tanshri Haji Mohammad Omar bin Yaqub, Associate Professor Dr. Sheikh Abdullah bin Hasan, Amanul Bashir, Reza, Emdadul Haque, Faisal, Abdul Jalil, Shamsuddin, Abdul Qayyum, Faruk Hossain, Giasuddin, Sharif Mandal, Bulbul, Nur Islam and many others were also present at the event.
