Poet Asad Chowdhury will be buried in Canada

Janaza of poet Asad Chowdhury will be held at Nugget Mosque in Toronto, Canada on Friday. Later, the body of the poet will be kept inside the mosque for half an hour for the public to pay their respects. Burial will follow at Pickering Dauphin Meadows.

Kabir's son-in-law Nadeem Iqbal said, "None of his family members live in the country. That's why the family wants to be buried in Canada."

Renowned poet Asad Chowdhury breathed his last at Lake Ridge Hospital in Ashwaha, Canada, after being under treatment in CCU for about three weeks.

Asad Chowdhury was born on February 11, 1943, in Mehendiganj of the then Bakerganj district. He received the Bangla Academy Award in 1987. Received Ekushey Medal in 2013.
