Bangladesh is participating for the second time in the 14th Malaysia Gifts Fair organized by the Malaysia Gifts and Premium Association (MGPA). 283 companies from 7 countries including Malaysia and Bangladesh are participating in the ongoing fair (June 18-20) at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center.
The theme of this fair is 'gift for a circular future'. Under the initiative of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) and under the supervision of the Bangladesh High Commission, Kuala Lumpur, 6 companies of Bangladesh are participating in this fair. The purpose of Bangladesh's participation in the Gifts Fair is to explore and export non-traditional products such as jute products, leather products, household and kitchenware, non-woven bags, and handicraft products to Malaysia.
Bangladeshi organizations participating in the fair are - Kiam Metal Industries Limited, Madina Non-Woven Fabrics, KMR Craft, Sauda International, Tarang, Women Empowerment Organization, Bangladesh and jointly Bangladesh High Commission and Export Promotion Bureau.
From the day of the opening of the fair, the crowd of visitors including foreign businessmen is being observed at the Bangladeshi stalls. Bangladeshi products especially jute products have been praised by many observers. The stalls of the Bangladesh High Commission and Export Promotion Bureau are displaying documentaries on Bangladeshi investment opportunities besides various publications related to trade and investment.
High Commissioner of Bangladesh assigned to Malaysia Md. Shamim Ahsan visited Bangladesh stalls on Wednesday (June 19). He spoke to the representatives of the participating Bangladeshi business organizations and assured them of full cooperation in expanding the market for their products in Malaysia.
The High Commissioner told the journalists present that in the context of the increasing demand for Bangladeshi products in Malaysia, the High Commission is actively working with other plans including participating in various trade fairs to expand the market for Bangladeshi products. Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur is participating in this kind of international trade fair in continuation of the 'economic diplomacy' followed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with the aim of creating opportunities for the export of other products as part of the diversification of export products.
