Maf Misbah Uddin, a Bangladeshi, made history by being elected for the ninth time in a row as the president of the Accountants, Statisticians, and Actuaries Union of New York City - 'Local 1407', which represents more than two lakh workers. At the same time, Maf Misbah was elected as the treasurer of District 37 for the seventh time in a row. 

More than 200,000 workers in New York City are voting members of these two labor unions. The most important thing is that both organizations are affiliated with the influential labor federation 'AFL-CIO' in US politics and administration. Accountants, statisticians, actuaries, tax auditors, and benefits examiners working in New York City administration are members of this labor union. The three-year tenure started this June and will end in June 2027.

Bangladeshi American Maaf Misbah Uddin has been continuously elected as president of Local 1407 since 2000. He is the first Asian American to be elected to this position. A popular leader among city officials, he was the first Asian-American to be elected treasurer of District (DC)-37, which consists of 62 New York City unions, in 2004. The number of members of DC-37 is 1 lakh 50 thousand and the number of retired officers is about 89 thousand. Almost all New York City employees (from general clerks to engineers to scientists) are members of DC-37, except for teachers and police officers. DC-37's treasurer Maaf Misbah Uddin managed the benefits of 500 million dollars for these members.
