Former Minister of Foreign Affairs and the President of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Abdul Momen said that corruption is a cancer of the country, I want to see a corruption-free Bangladesh.
He made this comment while speaking as the chief guest at the Lacorne Sylhet festival in Paris organized by the Jalalabad Association France in the capital of France.
Abdul Momen said that the prime minister has approved and allocated money for the implementation of several projects proposed for the development of education, health, communication, environment, and infrastructure in Sylhet, including river digging, hospital construction, road expansion, and park construction. However, the progress of the work is very slow due to bureaucratic complications. Expatriates should raise their voices about the progress of the work so that the works are completed on time.
Dr. Momen said, that as a result of not doing this work, the harassment of the people increases and the cost of the government increases. And the desired goal is not achieved. Moreover, corruption is the main reason behind non-performance. Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced to rid Bangladesh of corruption.
The former foreign minister also said that expatriate Bangladeshis played a unique role under the leadership of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Fund collection during the liberation war and gaining international recognition of Bangladesh as an independent sovereign state after independence, the cooperation and contribution of expatriates in the reconstruction of war-torn Bangladesh is undeniable.

France- Bangladesh national anthem of the two countries, the chief guest Dr. AK Abdul Momen was honored by the people of Sylhet. Apart from this, various individuals and institutions are felicitated for their special contributions in various fields to the development of the Bangladeshi community.
After the discussion meeting, the artists of Paris along with the popular musician Upma of Bangladesh made me swoon at the melodious music of the cultural evening. Around the Sylhet festival held in colorful arrangements, Bangladeshi people living in France became active in the meeting.
