The three-day international trade fair began on Tuesday in Melbourne, Australia. 10 Bangladeshi companies participated in the exhibition organized at the "Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre".
Eight garment manufacturers and suppliers are exhibiting garments made under the initiative of the Bangladesh High Commission and financed by the Export Development Bureau in Canberra. Two other organizations in the ready-made garment industry have also participated in this exhibition as a private initiative.
This information was provided in a press release of the Bangladesh High Commission in Australia. According to the High Commission, Bangladesh High Commission's Commercial Counselor in Australia Rony Chakma, and Chief Executive of the organizing organization Mary Kinsella inaugurated the exhibition of Bangladeshi export products at the Global Sourcing Expo in Melbourne. Murad Yusuf, President of the Australia-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry was also present.
About 450 manufacturers and suppliers from 20 countries participated in this exhibition. Such international trade fairs are held twice a year in Sydney and Melbourne, Australia. In terms of international trade, this event serves as an important platform for importers and exporters, manufacturers and suppliers, to showcase products, explore new markets, and establish mutual contacts.
About 93 percent of Bangladesh's exports to Australia are manufactured garments. Currently, Bangladesh is Australia's 38th trading partner.
