7 Bangladeshis detained in Saudi Arabia with a large shipment of drugs

14 people have been arrested in Saudi Arabia for their involvement in drug trade and smuggling. 7 of them are Bangladeshis. The anti-narcotics police arrested them in raids in different parts of the country. Gulf News reported this information on Sunday.

Saudi Arabia's General Directorate of Narcotics Control said 7 Bangladeshis were arrested in Riyadh for trafficking and smuggling 3.3 kg of highly addictive stimulant methamphetamine, 12,432 amphetamine tablets and a large quantity of hashish.

In addition, two Syrian nationals and a Saudi national were arrested for smuggling 21,000 tablets of amphetamine in Jeddah. In a separate operation, police arrested an expatriate and a Saudi national with 75,600 amphetamine tablets in Madinah.

Two Ethiopian nationals have been arrested while attempting to smuggle 40kg of illegal drugs across the border in the southwestern province of Jizan.

The Saudi government has recently launched a war against drugs. The officers of the Narcotics Control Department are conducting regular operations to arrest drug smugglers and traffickers. In these operations, large quantities of drugs are being seized and drug-related criminals are being arrested.
