Australian National Quran Competition held

The second annual National Qur'an Competition 2024 was held on 18th May (Saturday) at Brian Brown Theatre, Bankstown, Sydney under the initiative of Al Tazkirah Institute. The prize distribution ceremony was also concluded on the same day afternoon after intense competition among a large number of school-student contestants from six states all over Australia. 

Al Tazkirah Institute, an educational institution under the Islamic Practice and Dawah Circle (IPDC), a social organization of expatriate Muslims, organized a Quran recitation competition for children and teenagers across Australia for the second time in the holy month of Ramadan this year. Al Tazkirah Institute conducts regular programs of Qur'an education, Hifz, and Islamic education among Muslims in six states of the country namely New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, and the Australian Capital Territory. In 2024, about two thousand contestants participated in the second Quran recitation competition in different age groups. More than 350 contestants took part in the same competition to memorize two verses of the Quran. Around 50 Islamic educational institutions and 30 mosques across Australia were involved in the competition during the month of Ramadan. More than 70 religious personalities and imams were the judges and organizers of the entire competition program. 

Three winners from each state in the two-part memorization competition of the Holy Quran with Tajweed are given the opportunity to participate in the National Quran Recitation Competition. Assistant Coordinator of Al Tazkirah Institute, Shaikh Abdul Rahman, gave a welcome speech at the beginning of the competition which started at 9 am on Saturday, Central President of IPDC. Rafiqul Islam. The main part of the competition started after a speech by Imam Sheikh Abu Horaira of St. Mary's Mosque introducing the rules of the competition and introducing the judges. The family members of the audience were mesmerized by the mesmerizing recitations of these child and adolescent contestants who won the various state competitions continuously till noon. 

The Grand Mufti of Australia was present as a guest at the prize distribution ceremony which started after the midday break. Ibrahim Abu Mohammed, President of the National Imam Council Sheikh Shadi Al Sulaiman, Central President of IPDC Dr. Rafiqul Islam, Chief Justice Sheikh Tariq Al Bikbaei, sponsor organization Rahim-Aziz Foundation chief Arifur Rahman and Campbelltown City Council Deputy Mayor Ibrahim Khalil Masood.
