Rabindra-Nazrul Jayanti celebrations in Canberra

Rabindra-Nazrul Jayanti was celebrated yesterday at the initiative of the Bangladesh High Commission in Australia's capital Canberra. Expatriate Bangladeshi music and dance artists, members of the Bangladesh High Commission, and their families, along with children and adolescents participated in it. In collaboration with music organization Jalsa Canberra, solo and group Rabindra and Nazrul music, poetry recitals, and dance performances were held at Canberra College Auditorium in the capital of Australia.

Bangladesh High Commissioner M Allama Siddiqui, Indian High Commissioner to Australia Gopal Bagley, and Australian Capital Territory Government's Shadow Multicultural Minister Peter Kane spoke on the occasion. At the event, High Commissioner M Allama Siddiqui shed light on the versatile talents of poets Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam and their extraordinary contributions in all fields of Bengali literature.

Allama Siddiqui said these two great people had immense love for the culture, language, and people of Bengal. Besides, they also express their love for other languages ​​and cultures. In addition to these two people, the High Commissioner of Bangladesh also emphasized on other people who have contributed in the field of Bengali literature and culture.

Meanwhile, the Indian High Commissioner said that Bangladesh and India's geographical location, language, history, and culture have bound the two countries in a close relationship. He also praised the practice of Bengali culture in the diaspora. He also paid tribute to the outstanding contributions of poet Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam. Expatriate Bangladeshis, Bangladesh High Commission officials, and their family members participated in the event.
