18th Toronto Bangla Book Fair June 1 & 2

As time goes by, the bells of the Book Mela-2024 festival have rung. Yesterday evening, an exchange meeting was held with Toronto journalists at Dhansindi restaurant. 

The meeting was attended by journalists Sawgat Ali Sagar (New Desh), Sanjay Chaki (Climate TV), Tapas Karmkar (Newspaper), Deen Islam (Prabasi TV), Md Ibrahim (R TV), journalist Mosharraf Hossain and representatives of print media and electronic media.

In the meeting, Kazi Basit, Publicity and Media Coordinator on behalf of the book fair organizers, greeted the media representatives and requested the convenor of the book fair, Sheikh Sadi Ahmed, to present all the information about the book fair. Asma Ahmed, Jasim Mallik, Saeedah Bari, Zamana Hasina, and Rinki Ahmed in charge of the organizers exchanged views with the journalists about the organization of the entire book fair and sought the cooperation of the media and journalists.

Sadi Ahmed in his speech gave full details about the activities of the 2-day book fair. He said that this year's book fair will be presented as the chief guest. Nurul Huda (Director General/Bangla Academy) expressed hope that it will become a meeting place for writers, publishers, poets, literary artists, musicians, reciters, cultural activists, and Bengalis from Bangladesh.

Asma Ahmed said, there are many new additions to the book fair this year which will take the book fair to new heights. He invited all the Bangladeshis living in Canada.

Jasim Mallick gave all the information about the invited writers and publishers from Bangladesh. He said that there will be a booth for journalists at this year's fair.

Saida Bari said, there are several events for children and teenagers in this year's book fair. So he requested to come to the book fair with his children.

Aruna Haider presented information about cultural events. He said that most of Toronto's cultural organizations (Anyaswar, Apan Ucharan, Kantha Chitran), 2 universities, children's organizations (Khelaghar Canada, Didimni's Asar) and Sukanya Nrityangan, reciters Belayet Hossain, Jinnah Chowdhury, Shekhar Gomez and music by Roni Dutt, Lili Islam, Shaheed Khandaker Tuku, Farhana Shanta, Nahid Kabir, Mehzabin Osman, Nijhum Prashanthi etc. will participate.
