The well-known 'Bahnishikha Sangeet Niketan' in the New York area organized a delightful festival to familiarize the Bengali traditional pitha with the expatriate generation.
On the evening of December 29, at the Juice Center in Jackson Heights, a large number of expatriates from different classes and professions gathered at the beginning of the Pitha festival, which was inaugurated by freedom fighter Lablu Ansar. Freedom fighters Rashed Ahmed and Abul Bashar Chunnu were present at the event. The head of the host organization, Dr. Sabita Das, Shakila Runa, Runa Roy, and Munmun Saha, among others.
State Assemblyman Steve Raga, community leader Dr. Prabhat Chandra Das, and freedom fighter Abul Bashar Chunnu participated in a brief discussion on Victory Day. During the gathering held in different phases, Assemblyman Steve Raga distributed special certificates of appreciation on behalf of the State Assembly among the host organizations and those working continuously.
After the students and officials of Bohnishikha performed the national anthems of the United States and Bangladesh in unison, everyone stood and observed a minute of silence to pay tribute to the souls of the 3 million martyrs of the Liberation War. Then, children and teenagers danced, sang, read, and recited poems in the light of Victory Day. There was also a children's drawing competition in light of the Liberation War and Bengali traditions.
Dr. Sabita Das, Runa Roy, Julie Khastagir, Emon Biswas, Pujita Das, Shila Chanda, Sushil Sinha, Plumi Das, Shakila Runa, Madhu Roy and many others participated in the solo, duet, and ensemble singing.
