Victory Fair held in Barcelona

A 'Victory Fair' was held in Barcelona, ​​Spain, on the occasion of Bangladesh's great Victory Day. A large number of expatriate Bangladeshis living in Barcelona, ​​former members of the Spanish parliament, and senior officials of the Barcelona City Corporation were present at the fair, held in Ramla del Raval, a Bangladeshi-dominated area, on Saturday (December 21). 

A painting competition was held at the beginning of the Victory Fair organized by the Barcelona Bangladeshi Community with the participation of Bangladeshi children and teenagers. In thematic paintings, the children and teenagers depicted the flag of Bangladesh, independence, and scenes of victory with colored pencils.

The main part of the Victory Day celebration, conducted by Afaz Joni, President of Spain Bangla Press Club, began with the rendition of the national anthem of Bangladesh in unison. The national flag of Bangladesh was hoisted during the event.

Ramon Pedro, Honorary Counselor of Bangladesh in Barcelona, ​​was the chief guest at the fair. 

After the welcome speeches by Saleh Ahmed Sohag and AK Azad Mostafa, one of the organizers of the fair, the director of the event, Afaz Joni, presented the significance of Bangladesh's independence and victory to the Spanish guests in Spanish. After the guests' speeches, the prizes were given to the winners of the painting competition.

At the end of the discussion, local artists performed music in a delightful cultural program directed by Munni Pakhi.

There were several stalls of Bangladeshi food at the fair. Visitors to the fair enjoyed jhalmuri, chatpati, fuska, various types of pitha, and pansupari. 

Saleh Ahmed, one of the organizers of the fair, said that December 16 is a historic day for the Bengali nation. Various events are held in Bangladesh around this day. Victory Fairs are organized in various places. We also celebrate the day in different ways in the diaspora. As a part of this, 'Victory Fair' has been organized this year. One of the goals of organizing this fair is to cherish the history and tradition of the country and to give the new generation here an idea about the history and culture of Bangladesh. In addition, the local administration of Barcelona, ​​leaders of Spanish political parties and local residents were also present at this fair. They also learned about the history of our great liberation war and our culture.
