For the first time, the 'Great Victory Day Festival 2024' was held at the Bengali-dominated Matri Moniz Park in Lisbon, organized by the Portugal Bangladesh Community with the participation of thousands of expatriates. The festival featured various activities throughout the day, including dance, songs, poetry, costumes, and various local looms, clothing, and food stalls, with the participation of expatriate Bangladeshis.
Yesterday, Sunday (December 29), at 11 am, the Victory Festival was inaugurated by Dr. Miguel Coelho, President of the local Junta Frigesia Santa Maria Maior, at Martim Moniz Park in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. The second part began at 2 pm with the national anthem performance. Rony Hossain and Abdul Hakim Minhaj hosted the Victory Day concert program. Rana Taslim Uddin, Chief Coordinator of the Victory Celebration Committee, delivered a welcome speech at the program.
The Victory Day ceremony was attended by the Head of the Embassy in Lisbon, SM Golam Sarwar, Member of the Lisbon Municipal Assembly and Socialist Party Leader of Portugal, Advocate Dr. Jose Leitão, President of Junta Fragêcia Alcantara, David Amado, along with leaders of various political and social organizations in Bangladesh, as well as leaders of various mainstream Portuguese organizations. At this time, the senior community leader of Portugal, Rana Taslim Uddin and others on the committee honored the guests by wearing the Bangladeshi flag and logo.
