The two-month amnesty for expatriates living illegally in the UAE has been extended again. The amnesty, which began on September 1, was supposed to expire on October 31. On Thursday evening, the country's Ministry of Federal Authority and Identity Citizenship again announced that the amnesty period had been extended by two months to December 31.
Following the announcement of the amnesty in the emirate, special steps were taken from the two missions of Bangladesh in the UAE to serve Bangladeshi illegal immigrants. Manpower was also increased to automate the mission's passport wing and labor wing so that expatriates could take advantage of the amnesty. However, those who have not received their passports till October 31 to take advantage of amnesty. Those concerned think that they will be able to take the opportunity smoothly this time.
Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi Embassy and Bangladesh Dubai Consulate officials said that till October 30, 57 thousand and 20 immigrants have taken services under the passport and travel permit, at this time 52 thousand 384 e-passports have been accepted by expatriates, 13 thousand 107 have accepted machine-readable passports, hand written passports 3 thousand 307 extended the period, a total of 68 thousand 798 expatriates received passports to take advantage of amnesty. On the other hand, 4 thousand 428 illegal immigrants have traveled to the country with travel permits.
Newly appointed Consul General Md. Rasheduzzaman said that steps are being taken to make service activities more beautiful and creative in Bangladesh Mission. He said this while interacting with journalists on current affairs on Thursday evening.
