Most of the northwestern districts of the country have been affected by the ongoing wildfires in Portugal. Hundreds of rescue workers and volunteers of the fire department are working to control the ongoing fire in the forest area of the districts of about 124 thousand hectares.

As of Saturday, seven people have been reported dead in the fire, including three fire service personnel.

In this disaster, Portugal Bangla Press Club, an organization of Bangladeshi expatriate journalists, stands by the rescue workers and people affected by the disaster.

On Saturday afternoon, the press club leaders handed over emergency food items including medicine, water, and juice to the responsible officials at the Sapadres office of the Bangladeshi-dominated Martim Moniz area fire department.

Fire department officials receive emergency goods to deal with disasters. At this time, the commander in charge of the fire service thanked the Portugal Bangladesh Press Club leaders. They also mentioned the incident of Bangladeshis extending their hand of cooperation in such a national disaster as a unique example.
