Bangladeshi-American Senator (Georgia) Sheikh Rahman is running for the position of Vice Chairman (Civic Engagement and Voter Participation) of the Democratic Party's National Committee.

"Now is the time for someone like me to lead," he said at the party's highest policy-making forum held in South Carolina on January 24. "People like Trump will come and go, but I will stay. I will fight for you."

He said, "We must examine the root causes of the Democratic Party's disaster in the last election. We must work to pave the way for the Democratic Party's victory, not just in the White House and Capitol Hill, but also in state, city, and county administrations." If I win the post of Vice Chairman of the party, I will visit the 7 states that will determine the victory within the next 90 days and exchange views with all the people. In the next two years, I will travel to 50 states, including all the territories, and work to re-establish the foundation of American confidence in the Democratic Party.

This is the demand of the time."

He also said that far-reaching plans must be presented to the public to pave the way for voter security and economic prosperity. Most importantly, representatives of religious, racial, and ethnic groups must have free opportunities to participate in policy-making. Only if we can avoid the dominance of any particular race and ethnic group will it be easier to rescue the Democratic Party from its delicate situation.
