British-Bangladeshi Faisal Hussain Chowdhury (55), MP of the Labor Party in the Scottish Parliament of Britain, while talking about the situation in his constituency in London, mentioned that in the diaspora we are so divided and addicted to the tramadol of domestic politics that no one can identify with the identity of a Bangladeshi Bengali. Some have become Awami League BNP or Jatiya Party. As a result, I cannot find Bangladeshis. In other words, because I am not able to unite ethnically, I am not able to realize my rights and dignity in a multi-ethnic society. But there is no alternative to being in mainstream politics for the welfare of Bangladesh.
Faisal, son of Nabiganj in Habiganj district of Sylhet region, said, "My area is Edinburgh and Luthien region. 1800 of the total voters there are British Bangladeshis. Only 900 votes are needed to win. But before I won the May 2021 election, no Bangladeshi could win. Because Dhakaites do not vote if Sylhet stands, Chantgaiyas or Noakhalis do not vote if Barishailya comes.
Faisal Chowdhury, a member of the Scottish Parliament elected from the Labor Party, also said that if a candidate from the Labor Party in any seat, another Bengali from the Conservative Party stood against him. In this situation, British candidates of other parties won.
Faisal Chowdhury, who settled in Britain under the status of immigration while studying in eighth grade, said to New York expatriates, if you can unite, you will surely be able to win seats in the US Congress. Not only that, through the rate at which the community is prospering, not only themselves but also the new generation will be able to pave the way to the top of American politics. I hope that wherever I come next, I will definitely see someone as a senator or congressman in this America.
